CHP reacts sharply to court's suspension request! 'This judge must be suspended'
CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır reacted sharply to the request to suspend the Istanbul Provincial Congress, stating, "This judge is staging a coup against the Constitution, election law, and the national will! The HSK must immediately launch an investigation and suspend this judge!"
The Istanbul 45th Civil Court of First Instance has issued a notable decision regarding the CHP's Extraordinary Istanbul Provincial Congress. The court sent a letter to the Istanbul Governorship and the Sarıyer District Election Board requesting the precautionary suspension of the congress.
This development, coming just days before the congress, has sparked sharp reactions from the CHP.
CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır criticized the decision with harsh words, stating, "This judge is staging a coup against the Constitution, election law, and the national will! The HSK must immediately launch an investigation and suspend this judge!"
CHP Deputy Chairman Burhanettin Bulut stated that the decision is unacceptable in terms of democracy. Bulut said, "The Istanbul 45th Civil Court of First Instance has decided to suspend the efforts being carried out for the holding of our Istanbul Provincial Congress. If a political party's congress is being interfered with by a court order, then what we have is tutelage, not democracy. Placing a barrier in front of the ballot box is neither the judiciary's job nor is it legitimate. This decision, taken with political motives while hiding behind the law, is a black mark on democracy!"
