CHP reacts to Kızılay's vehicle tender: 'Cars that could be bought for 5 million were purchased for 12-13 million'

CHP Ankara Deputy Umut Akdoğan pointed out that the tender for 6 vehicles by Kızılay, published in the Official Gazette, required features such as the cars being brand new, having 150 horsepower, rain sensors, and automatic climate control, stating, "Do you see how they are bringing in cars that you or I could buy for 5 million for 12-13 million?"

Kızılay's tender for 6 vehicles was published in the October 5, 2024 issue of the Official Gazette. CHP Ankara Deputy Umut Akdoğan pointed to the technical specifications of Kızılay's vehicle tender and said the following:

“Sells tents during an earthquake, sends an IBAN at every opportunity? Guess who? Of course, Kızılay. I opened the Official Gazette. And what do I see? Kızılay is going to buy 6 vehicles. Can they buy them? If it's a need, they can. The issue is not about 6 vehicles; the issue is bigger. It's a matter of mindset. Look at it from a bigger perspective, let me explain it to you.

The cars are to be C-segment, that might be acceptable. I could buy these 6 C-segment cars for 5 million. You could too. How much is Kızılay buying them for? Let's take a look; the cars will be brand new. That's fine, let them be. They will be gasoline-powered, at least 150 horsepower. The price starts climbing from the very first articles of the specifications. Then they must have automatic transmission, a multimedia screen, an armrest, a lane-keeping system, a hill-start assist system, a rain sensor, and the automatic climate control must be dual-zone so that our gentlemen can warm up and cool down separately. It is required that the rims be at least 17 inches and made of aluminum. Otherwise, those at Kızılay apparently cannot ride in them. Do you see how they are bringing in cars that you or I could buy for 5 million for 12-13 million?

“WE WILL PURSUE IT EVEN IF THE PRICE DIFFERENCE IS 1 LIRA”

May God reform you, what can I say. This institution is not a public institution, but it is an institution synonymous with the Republic, and its honorary president is the President. It is not an ordinary NGO, in other words. There is a 2.5-fold price difference between reasonable requests and what they want to do now. Until this mindset changes, we will pursue it even if the price difference is 1 lira, and we will drive this mentality out of every institution.”
