CHP refers Tanju Özcan to disciplinary board

Republican People's Party (CHP) Spokesperson Deniz Yücel announced that Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan has been referred to the High Disciplinary Board to be punished with a reprimand following posts he made on his social media account targeting former Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu.

Yücel held a press conference regarding the Central Executive Board (MYK) meeting, which was held at the party's headquarters under the chairmanship of CHP Chairman Özgür Özel.

Yücel stated that those who have any fault or negligence in the incident where 2 citizens lost their lives after being electrocuted following heavy rainfall in İzmir must be meticulously investigated and held accountable before the judiciary.

When asked by a journalist about the posts made by CHP Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan on his social media account regarding former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, Yücel replied, “This was one of the agenda items of our MYK meeting today. With the unanimous decision taken by the MYK, it has been decided to refer Tanju Özcan to the High Disciplinary Board to be punished with a ‘reprimand’ in accordance with Article 68/3-C of our party bylaws.”

Following the claim that former CHP leader Kılıçdaroğlu said there were 50 deputies in the CHP loyal to him, Tanju Özcan had made a very harsh post on his social media account.

"ARE YOU GOD, OR A CULT LEADER?"

Reminding that he walked to Ankara under the name of Change last year, Tanju Özcan recalled that almost everyone remained silent at that time; targeting Kılıçdaroğlu, he claimed that Kılıçdaroğlu was obsessed with his seat, both during the party congress and now.

Özcan reacted to the words allegedly spoken by Kılıçdaroğlu by saying, "There are 50 loyal deputies! Are you God, or a cult leader? What does a loyal deputy mean?"

KILIÇDAROĞLU'S RESPONSE: DO NOT ATTEND MY FUNERAL

Using the expressions, "You are like a loose cannon. You have lost your balance," Kılıçdaroğlu said he did not want him to attend his funeral.

Kılıçdaroğlu used the following expressions in his post:

I am answering you for the first and last time;

Look at what you are saying, even though I denied the false news that came out for a statement I did not make.

There is no place for what you have done in our party ethics or our culture.

The deputies of the Republican People's Party are only loyal to the Constitution and the nation.

You used insulting expressions, I kept silent.

You threw the chair representing the office of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, I kept silent.

But they say that teaching a rude person a lesson is like clothing forty orphans…

LOYAL DEPUTY CLAIM

It was alleged that when asked by journalist Vedat Yenerer, "It is being discussed that at least 50 deputies are loyal to you within the party. Is it true?", Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu replied, "Yes, it is true."

Following the statements made by Vedat Yenerer, Kılıçdaroğlu said that he did not make a statement saying, "At least 50 deputies in the CHP are loyal to me."

Kılıçdaroğlu stated, "All deputies in the CHP are loyal to the party. Not to individuals. I have never had a sentence like '50 deputies are loyal to me.' Such a thing is not possible in the CHP."
