CHP's Başarır reacts to 'dissolution': 'We shouldn't be hearing this from Şamil Tayyar'; Parliament is essential

Başarır stated, "We should not be hearing about this process from Şamil Tayyar. It must be conducted transparently with the parties represented in Parliament," emphasizing that the involvement of the Grand National Assembly is essential.

Participating in the 'Bi' Karar Ver' program on Karar TV's YouTube channel, Başarır said, "This country has been fighting terrorism for 40 years. Now, the silencing of weapons and the stopping of bloodshed is, of course, important. However, for the legitimacy of the process, it is essential that Parliament be involved."

"WE SHOULD NOT BE HEARING ABOUT THE PROCESS FROM ŞAMİL TAYYAR"

Expressing his discomfort with the lack of transparency in the process, Başarır said, "We should not be hearing about this process from Şamil Tayyar. It must be conducted transparently with the parties represented in Parliament. No one should be giving us information through journalists or backroom channels. If Parliament is sidelined, social consensus cannot be achieved."

Emphasizing that the resolution process can only be managed with a 'we' language, Başarır stated, "It is valuable that it ends today. But we must carry out this process not by saying 'I succeeded,' but by saying 'we succeeded together.' This is how social consensus is achieved."

"STEPS MUST BE TAKEN THAT WILL NOT OFFEND THE FAMILIES OF MARTYRS"

Highlighting that despite public debate over potential sentencing regulations, no information has been shared in Parliament, Başarır said, "As a CHP Group Deputy Chairman, I do not know the smallest detail regarding the sentencing regulation. Thousands of citizens are asking us questions, but no official information is being shared. This is unacceptable."

Stating that the CHP's primary concern while supporting the process is respect for the moral rights of martyrs' families and veterans, Başarır said, "If Turkey is to take steps in this process, they must be steps that protect the dignity of the families of nearly 50,000 martyrs and do not offend them. This is exactly what we mean by social consensus."

"WE ARE NOT AGAINST IT, BUT WE ARE NOT BLINDLY SUPPORTING IT EITHER"

At the end of the program, Başarır stated, "As the CHP, we are not against the process, but we are not blindly supporting it either," and reiterated that all details must be debated in Parliament and presented to the public.

Başarır called out, "This country has been bleeding for 40 years. If a reconciliation process is now necessary, let us embrace this process. But let us do it with everyone, with society, and with Parliament."
