CHP's Günaydın: Plasterers and painters were found to be FETÖ members, but are there no MPs or ministers?
Opposition group deputy chairs, making assessments regarding the 10th anniversary of July 15 at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) General Assembly, brought up discussions concerning the failure to release the July 15 research commission report, the commission's work, and the political wing of the coup attempt. CHP Group Deputy Chair Gökhan Günaydın said, "The most important question is, who is the political wing of the coup? Plasterers and painters in Anatolia were found to be FETÖ members, but are there no MPs or ministers? Does this not have a political wing? Have you been able to uncover and present even one?"
In the General Assembly, which convened under the chairmanship of TBMM Deputy Speaker Pervin Buldan, group deputy chairs of the political parties took the floor.
CHP Group Deputy Chair Gökhan Günaydın, in his speech regarding the 10th anniversary of the July 15 coup attempt, leveled criticisms at the work of the July 15 research commission.
Günaydın said, "There is no word left unsaid about July 15 under this sky and within the atmosphere of this parliament, but there are things that have not been done," and asked why the then-Chief of General Staff Hulusi Akar and the then-MIT Undersecretary Hakan Fidan were not called to the July 15 Research Commission.
"Are you not ashamed of not being able to release the report?"
Referring to the head of the research commission, Günaydın used the expressions, "You establish a commission to investigate the July 15 coup, and the head of the commission turns out to be a FETÖ member." Noting that the commission report has not been released to the public, Günaydın said, "Ten years have passed, that commission kept a report. Are you not ashamed of not being able to release that report? The Republican People's Party has four separate research motions; we repeat this every year." Günaydın posed the questions, "The most important question is, who is the political wing of the coup? Plasterers and painters in Anatolia were found to be FETÖ members, but are there no MPs or ministers? Does this not have a political wing? Have you been able to uncover and present even one?"
Günaydın stated, "Let us express that without doing these, it is not even possible to talk about a real confrontation with July 15. At least have the courage to release that report."
CHP Group Deputy Chair Gökhan Günaydın argued that the AKP has not truly confronted July 15 and continued his criticisms regarding the failure to release the Research Commission report.
Günaydın said, "Establish one more commission, let us all investigate together who collaborated with those traitors to the homeland on July 15."
