CHP's Torun on the backstory of Nimet Özdemir joining the AKP: If she says it was out of necessity...
Striking remarks have been made by CHP's Seyit Torun regarding the backstory of Nimet Özdemir's decision to switch from the CHP to the AKP, following the pinning of the party badge by AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan at the AKP Group Meeting in the Turkish Grand National Assembly.
CHP Ordu Deputy Seyit Torun made statements regarding a dialogue he had with Nimet Özdemir while appearing as a guest on a program on Halk TV.
CHP Ordu Deputy Seyit Torun, who encountered Özdemir at the airport, explained the backstory of the Istanbul Deputy's resignation.
Stating that he expressed his sadness over her resignation and asked her, "Why did you feel the need for such a thing?", Torun noted that the Istanbul Deputy replied to him by saying, "I was forced to."
Seyit Torun made the following assessment regarding Istanbul Deputy Nimet Özdemir's decision to join the AKP:
"Ms. Nimet was a colleague with whom we worked in harmony, and her dialogues with our deputies were quite good. But of course, it is seen that, as she herself expressed - I do not want to explain the details here, I do not want to give the details of our conversation, but I would like to underline one word - if she says 'out of necessity,' there is no principle of voluntariness here, there is no will of voluntariness here."
WHAT HAPPENED?
Istanbul Deputy Nimet Özdemir, who abruptly closed her social media account after resigning from the CHP in recent days, joined the AKP at today's group meeting.
Özdemir's AKP badge was pinned by President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
