We have uncovered the second privatization plan hidden by the AKP!

Regarding the toll roads operated by the General Directorate of Highways in Istanbul (1st Region), Izmir (2nd Region), Ankara (4th Region), and Mersin (5th Region);

We have determined that a feasibility study was commissioned to a foreign company for the privatization of all 7 of these highways for a period of 25 years. 

The company for which the AKP commissioned the feasibility study: BTY Construction Cost Consultants Co. (North America-based)

Niğde-Mersin-Adana Motorway

The AKP is seeking to collect a lump sum of money in advance before the general elections!

So, what is the rent value of this privatization?

Approximately 17 billion 663 million dollars.

Furthermore, with this privatization;

Thousands of workers and civil servants within the General Directorate of Highways (KGM) will be forcibly pushed out of the institution, and the institution will be deliberately dismantled.

How did I calculate this massive rent?

Based on the dollar equivalents of the 2024 highway income and expenditure data.

For the 7 highways planned for privatization;

Total revenue:

337 million 789 thousand dollars

Total expenses:

161 million 153 thousand dollars

Total annual net income:

176 million 635 thousand dollars

Planned net income over the 25-year privatization process: 4 billion 415 million dollars

The total annual vehicle traffic on 7 highways is 405 million, and with this privatization plan, the AKP is seeking to make millions of citizens mandatory customers of crony companies.

This is proof that the bill for the privatization will once again be paid by the citizens.

So, during the privatization process, how much of a price hike is expected for vehicle tolls on the 7 highways?

On these 7 highways belonging to the General Directorate of Highways, the average vehicle toll per kilometer is 0.84 TL. 

In the same regions, the average vehicle toll per kilometer on highways operated by the private sector under the Build-Operate-Transfer model is 3.45 TL. 

Based on the 3.45 TL average vehicle toll per kilometer on highways operated by the private sector under the Build-Operate-Transfer model;

A price hike of approximately 300% is expected for the 0.84 TL average vehicle toll per kilometer on the 7 highways operated by the state.

The net revenue over 25 years with a 300% increase in tolls on the 7 highways: 17 billion 663 million dollars

768 billion Lira at the current exchange rate

This is called robbing the citizens!

Privatizing these highways, the costs of which were paid for with citizens' taxes and which the state operates at a high profit, is an act of hostility toward the public!
