CHP statement on the war: 'It is effectively at our border' – Patriot missile reminder

Party Spokesperson Zeynel Emre, in his assessment regarding the war between the US/Israel and Iran, said, "Now, most recently, it was decided to deploy Patriot missiles in the region where the radar line is located in Malatya Kürecik, and they have been deployed. This has gone beyond the issue of 'there is tension in the region.' The war is effectively at our border."

In his statement, touching upon developments in foreign policy following the war launched by the US and Israel against Iran, Emre said, "The attack by the United States and Israel on Iran has turned the Middle East into a ring of fire, and there are some developments that directly concern us.

As you know, a third missile was sent toward our country from there, and all three missiles were shot down by NATO elements. The good side here is that there was no loss of life or property, but the crisis here has turned into a picture that tests Turkey's security, its economy, and its capacity in terms of the security umbrella that the government constantly claims to manage well with a narrative.

Responding to journalists' questions after his statement, Emre answered a question regarding the allegations of bargaining following the meeting between Özgür Özel and former Parliament Speaker Bülent Arınç as follows:

"The meeting between Mr. Arınç and Mr. Özel is a meeting between two fellow citizens from Manisa. These are things that have happened from time to time before. It is being treated as if it were something very special and secret. If it were, it would be kept secret anyway. I mean, it wouldn't be announced to the press if you were going to talk about something secret.

Also, frankly, I cannot make sense of this. The Republican People's Party is under the heaviest attacks in its history. What kind of blackmail or bargaining is this when we wake up to an operation every day?

There are operations and injustices against the Republican People's Party every day. On the other hand, there are such baseless rumors, things that do not reflect the truth. We are a very transparent party. Whatever happens, we share it with our citizens."
