Question from CHP's Tanrıkulu regarding the department established for unsolved murders: What is the criteria?

Sezgin Tanrıkulu reacted to the Ministry's approach that only certain files would be examined, asking, "Which files will be examined, and which will not?"

CHP's Tanrıkulu evaluated the statements regarding the establishment of a department within the Ministry of Justice's General Directorate of Criminal Affairs to investigate unsolved murders. 

Tanrıkulu stated the following:

"It has been stated that a department has been established within the Ministry of Justice's General Directorate of Criminal Affairs to investigate unsolved murders. The Minister also made statements to this effect.

However, in his response to a question posed to him at the reception at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey yesterday, he clearly stated that not all unsolved murders would be investigated, but only some of them. I want to specifically underline this; it is being said that not every unsolved murder, but only some will be investigated.

I ask the Minister here; what is the criteria for this? Which files will be investigated, and which will not? On what basis will this distinction be made? Are files alleged to have the 'deep state' behind them being referred to? For example, will the assassination of Tahir Elçi, who was killed in the middle of Diyarbakır and whose case remains unsolved, be reinvestigated? We expect clear and precise answers to all these questions from the Minister."
