Warning on electricity bills from CHP's Yavuzyılmaz: Rates reaching up to 130 percent

Deniz Yavuzyılmaz made the following statements in a post on his social media account:

"A hidden electricity hike for 45 million citizens! Electricity bills for common areas in apartment buildings—including elevators, water booster pumps, automatic systems, and exterior lighting—are facing hikes of up to 130 percent.

The total rate of the hike to be applied to the electricity bill for common consumption within apartment dues; when divided among the apartments in the building, means a hidden hike of 10, 15, or 20 percent per apartment in some buildings.

So, how? With a decision that the EMRA is set to take within a few months, effective from 2026; if apartments, cooperatives, and housing complexes consume more than 3 thousand kilowatt-hours of electricity in total for common use in 2025, meaning if the total annual electricity bill exceeds 8 thousand TL, common electricity meters will face a massive hike.

The number of households that will be affected by the hike is 15 million. The number of people that will be affected by the hike is 45 million. The result: The AKP's electricity hike will strike 45 million more citizens, including babies, the youth, the elderly, and the sick!"
