CHP's Yücel reacts to November 10 being set as 'mid-term break' with 'calendar games' remark: 'Do you think you can make people forget Atatürk?'
CHP Spokesperson Deniz Yücel reacted sharply on his social media account to the scheduling of the mid-term break to coincide with November 10 in the 2025-2026 academic calendar.
CHP Spokesperson Deniz Yücel reacted to the decision to make November 10 a mid-term break in the 2025-2026 academic calendar, stating: "This nation has not forgotten its loyalty to the founder of our Republic and the architect of our independence, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, for 87 years, and it will never allow you to make it forget.
This nation, which stands by its Ancestor at any cost, will not bow to your calendar games!
Every disrespect shown to our eternal leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk serves no purpose other than to diminish the one who commits it."
In a statement on his social media account, Yücel noted the following:
"Do you think you can make people forget Atatürk by scheduling the mid-term break to coincide with November 10, Yusuf Tekin? Every time rumors of a cabinet reshuffle hit the agenda, you worry about keeping your seat for another 3-5 months by attacking Atatürk and the values of the Republic... Last time, with your limited knowledge, you tried to define secularism; now, you are supposedly trying to make people forget Atatürk.
This nation has not forgotten its loyalty to the founder of our Republic and the architect of our independence, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, for 87 years, and it will never allow you to make it forget! This nation, which stands by its Ancestor at any cost, will not bow to your calendar games. Every disrespect shown to our eternal leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk serves no purpose other than to diminish the one who commits it. No power is enough to erase the love for Atatürk from the heart of this nation."
