CHP's Bağcılar rally preparations hit by 'electricity' obstacle: The square is bright

Before the 85th of the "Defending the National Will" rallies, which the Republican People's Party (CHP) will hold in Istanbul's Bağcılar district on Wednesday, January 28, at 19:30, the electricity at the rally site was cut off.

CHP Bağcılar District Chair Özkan Akar announced that the electricity in the area was cut while rally preparations were underway.

"THE ENTIRE BAĞCILAR SQUARE IS BRIGHT, BUT THE ELECTRICITY AT THE RALLY SITE HAS BEEN CUT"

Making statements from Bağcılar Square, CHP's Akar stated that there was no power outage in the surrounding area and spoke as follows:

“We are currently in Bağcılar Square. When we arrived at the square to complete our work before the rally to be held on Wednesday, we saw that the electricity was cut off.

The entire area around Bağcılar Square is lively and bright, but the electricity at the rally site has been cut. The area has been plunged into darkness. The AKP government did not surprise us again. They are trying to intimidate us through their institutions and municipalities. They feed on darkness.

NO RESPONSE RECEIVED FROM BEDAŞ

The CHP Bağcılar District Presidency made a statement on its social media account:

In the statement, which noted that no response could be received despite reaching out to BEDAŞ officials, the following was stated:

“While our preparations for the rally we will hold tomorrow continue at full speed, the lighting of Bağcılar Square has been turned off without any justification or explanation.

Although we have reached out to the authorities, no response has been provided to us.

Fear is of no use against fate. Despite all the obstacles, we continue to prepare for our rally with the power of the people. Bağcılar will not surrender to darkness.”
