CHP's July 15 question to AKP's Çelik over 'Yassıada' comparison: Where were Binali Yıldırım and he?

Başarır responded to AKP Spokesperson Ömer Çelik's 'Yassıada' remarks. Başarır said, "AKP Spokesperson Ömer Çelik has taken offense at the criticisms regarding the indictment and the trial. He has taken the issue to a completely different place. Those who judge and victimize people unlawfully will be judged when the day comes. He took this and brought it to the Yassıada Courts and created a Yassıada gang. While my Chairman was giving a speech under bombs and resisting the coup on July 15, where were Binali Yıldırım and he?" 

Stating that there was a delay in obtaining investigation permits regarding the Kütahya and Isparta municipalities within the scope of the indictment, Başarır also reacted to the legislative proposal containing regulations regarding foundations that will be discussed in the TBMM General Assembly.

Highlights from Başarır's statements are as follows:

"Just as we predicted, we are facing an indictment that is baseless, not based on concrete evidence, and written like gossip. AKP Spokesperson Ömer Çelik has taken offense at the criticisms regarding the indictment and the trial. He has taken the issue to a completely different place. Those who judge and victimize people unlawfully will be judged when the day comes. He took this and brought it to the Yassıada Courts and created a Yassıada gang. While my Chairman was giving a speech under bombs and resisting the coup on July 15, where were Binali Yıldırım and he? In the 80 coup, two CHP chairmen were taken into custody. I suppose Ömer Çelik was playing hopscotch back then, but whatever you say, there is no Yassıada gang, but there is a Silivri gang. We see in the indictment, which was prepared with fake evidence, secret witnesses, and people whose testimonies were changed through pressure, that innocent, blameless people are in prison, victimizing them.

KARALAR BEING TRIED IN ISTANBUL...

For 3 months we said Kütahya, Isparta, and it occurred to Akın Gürlek to ask about Kütahya. Did it just occur to you today to question the file that did the most business with Kütahya Municipality, where the first reports led to an investigation being opened in Istanbul, and then sent to Kütahya with a decision of lack of jurisdiction? The section regarding Kütahya Municipality is not from the CHP era, but the MHP era. The Kütahya Mayor of the period is Alim Işık. He is a person who served as an MHP deputy for two terms and then as mayor. Aziz İhsan Aktaş received a tender worth 36 million dollars at today's valuation. Did Aziz İhsan Aktaş benefit from effective remorse there too? Who has been hiding the Kütahya file until today? While Mr. Zeydan Karalar is being tried in Istanbul, why is the Kütahya file being heard in Kütahya? Did the judiciary, which did not lift a finger while we were questioning Kütahya and Isparta on television, in the media, and in Parliament for 3 months, put it on the agenda today? There is a chief public prosecutor who neglected his duty regarding Kütahya. There are 3 major tenders, a total of 36 million dollars, and an expert report as solid as a rock. Rigging tenders, bribery, embezzlement, and extortion were identified in that report. Despite this, where is the former Kütahya Mayor? Our mayors are in Silivri.

On Thursday, the commission will elect a member to the HSK. I look at the applications, it is as if the application forms for the AKP's municipal or parliamentary elections have been filled out. Saliha Sasa, Has Party parliamentary candidate; Timur Boran, AKP Kahramanmaraş parliamentary candidate; Mehmet Burak, AK Party Youth Branch member; Abdurrahman Aykut, AKP İzmir Karabağlar mayoral candidate; Havvanur Yurtsever, AKP Zeytinburnu District Presidency Executive Board Member; Alper Kağan, AKP İzmir parliamentary candidate... People who engage in politics in the AK Party have applied to the HSK. We will choose one of them. What can you say about this judiciary, Ömer Çelik? You have turned a part of the Republic of Turkey's judiciary into the backyard of your party. There is a government that is not ashamed or embarrassed by this, and they are offended by what we say. Successive investigations, perceptions, compensation lawsuits... An independent judiciary will come to this country and judge those who set up these conspiracies. Why are you disturbed by this? Those who are disturbed even by the word 'they will be judged' have left no opposition politician or journalist outside. You arrest us, and you are afraid of the word 'to be judged'. What kind of state of mind is this?

"THE GOVERNMENT IS ACTING LIKE A LIQUIDATION OFFICER"

The great TBMM is introducing a law to prevent municipalities from working. The great TBMM is introducing a law for the future of 2-3 companies. This is not a place where the laws of 3-5 companies are discussed. The AKP Group Deputy Chairmen and deputies are not representatives of these companies, but deputies of 86 million. There is an 11th article regarding the Foundations Law that tramples on the Constitution, it is shameful. In this article, they are seizing the management of foundations in SOEs (State Economic Enterprises), universities, and municipal affiliates and company managements. They want to seize places managed by the municipality that belong to foundations that have been serving the public in Istanbul for years and carrying out culture and art activities. In other words, they want to take these from the public and give them to companies. Müze Gazhane, Artİstanbul Feshane, Beşiktaş and Kadıköy Pier Libraries and pier, Moda Pier... Places identified with Istanbul, offered to the public for years during both the AKP and CHP periods. Why are you disturbed? Do you have no other concern than dealing with municipalities? The great TBMM will deal with taking the places given by foundations that the municipality has opened to the public. From now on, while citizens are having fun there and benefiting from these services for free in the evenings, the AKP gentlemen will give this to a few companies and take the money in advance.

The only reason is that the municipalities are in the hands of the CHP. You don't see the 25-year insurance debt, you put it into enforcement after we win. Municipalities have managed Feshane for 50 years, now you are trying to seize it. The parking lot in Ephesus has served the public with municipal revenues for years, you seize it after we win. It occurred to them to take money from the municipality from the 50-year-old dam in Çanakkale. The country has become so polarized and they are using the Parliament as a tool for this. With this law, let's say it's the 20th year, they are taking the authority to extend it for another 49 years without a tender. They did the same thing in the ports, we put up great reactions in this Parliament, it was canceled. In a sense, this government is acting like a liquidation officer of all the gains of the Republic.”

Answering the questions of the press members after his statements, Başarır gave the following response to the question regarding President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan filing a 250 thousand lira compensation lawsuit against him:   

"You will both insult us, you will both curse at us, you will both have us slandered... There is nothing protecting us. I will say 3 sentences about you, a 250 thousand lira compensation lawsuit, an investigation at 02.00 at night... The Prosecutor could not sleep, a man who would not be able to sleep if he did not open an investigation. Why don't you wait for the morning, would Ali Mahir Başarır receive less punishment if you opened it at 09.00? Which of these are being investigated? What did I say to Recep Tayyip Erdoğan? Did I call him a 'sürtük' (slut), a 'alçak' (vile), or 'şerefsizler' (dishonorable)? You have the freedom to commit crimes, Mr. President, you have the freedom to insult. When we exceed the limits of criticism, there is an investigation from there, a threat from here... The Deputy Chairman of this party responsible for Media Communication, Faruk Acar, shares my video and writes 'Hoşt' (shoo). Well, isn't there an investigation into him? A government that does not judge the Gökçek family cannot judge anyone for corruption, but they insult everyone on Twitter and television as a family."
