Church attackers found to have worked as waiters in Bahçelievler

THEY WERE WORKING AT A SUSHI RESTAURANT

Among the prominent details in the investigation into the bloody attack are their dates of entry into the country and their daily activities during the period they operated as a "sleeper cell." According to striking details about the cell members, it emerged that the perpetrators were working at a sushi restaurant operating in the Bahçelievler district.

It was learned that the individuals, who had been working as "waiters" at the restaurant in question for some time, covered their living expenses with the salaries they received from this workplace where they were employed off the books.

ATTACKERS CONDUCTED RECONNAISSANCE

Deepening the investigation into the attack carried out during the mass at the church, teams from the Istanbul Police Department's Intelligence Branch and Counter-Terrorism (TEM) units uncovered evidence of reconnaissance activities around the Santa Maria Italian Church in Sarıyer, where the incident took place. It was understood that the two terrorists and other members of the cell who aided and abetted them had engaged in reconnaissance and surveillance activities around the church as part of their division of labor. It was learned that the attackers went to the area in question separately on different days for reconnaissance, while 5 suspects who led them worked on cameras and an escape plan one day before the incident.
