Cinema artist Ahu Tuğba passes away at her home in Miami

One of the prominent names of Turkish cinema, Ahu Tuğba, has passed away at her home in Miami, USA. The 69-year-old artist was known to have been battling asthma and had also been involved in a traffic accident. Tuğba's daughter, Anjelik, confirmed her mother's death.

Journalist Hakan Solaker, in a statement regarding Ahu Tuğba's death, noted that her daughter Anjelik was at home when the artist fell ill and that it was Anjelik who notified the police.

Solaker said, "I have just received sad news from Miami, America. My close friend Nur Hekimci called and unfortunately informed me that the famous cinema artist Ahu Tuğba has died at her home. Her daughter Anjelik was at home, and she was the one who reported the situation to the police."

Solaker added that Tuğba passed away in the morning hours, that details regarding the cause and circumstances of her death are not yet known, but that she had been struggling with asthma for a long time and had experienced difficult times following a traffic accident. Police have arrived at the scene, and it was stated that further information will be shared as it becomes available.

WHO IS AHU TUĞBA?

Ahu Tuğba was born in Yeşilköy, Istanbul, as the only child of a wealthy family. She graduated from the Istanbul American Girls' High School, the girls' division of Robert College. Her cinema career began when director Metin Erksan saw her while walking in Beyoğlu and offered her a role in a film. She entered the world of cinema while still in middle school. She left her studies in the English Language department at Concordia University in Canada unfinished.

She began to be recognized in the Turkish cinema world starting in the late 1970s. She gained fame in the early 1980s and became one of the symbols of Turkish cinema in the 80s. She released a music album in 1987.

Ahu Tuğba starred alongside famous actors of the era such as Kemal Sunal, Cüneyt Arkın, Tarık Akan, Kadir İnanır, İlyas Salman, Hakan Ural, Yaşar Alptekin, Tarık Tarcan, Burçin Oraloğlu, and Nuri Alço, and was known as a symbol of that period alongside Banu Alkan, Serpil Çakmaklı, and Müjde Ar in the 80s.

MARRIED 10 TIMES

Ahu Tuğba was married a total of 10 times throughout her life. She made her second marriage in 1981 to Mustafa Ulusoy. From her marriage in 1991 to the Albanian-American doctor Timmy Alejtanij, she has a daughter born on November 11, 1993, named "Ahu" (Ajelbegü Ahu Anjelik Alejnatij) like herself.

Ahu Tuğba was the owner of a nightclub called Guantenamera in the Osmanbey district of Istanbul. Ahu Tuğba was living with her daughter in the city of Miami in the United States.
