Circular from the Ministry of National Education to 81 provinces: Daylight saving time message

A circular titled "school and lesson hour practice" was sent to all provincial governorates under the signature of Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin. The circular requested that the start and end times of classes be arranged in a way that does not disrupt education and training, and that students do not encounter any negative situations.

The circular recalled that it has been decided to continue the current daylight saving time practice, which is applied throughout the country to make better use of daylight, and stated that the Regulation on Secondary Education Institutions also establishes that the academic year must not be less than 180 working days.

The circular, which includes the relevant provisions in the Regulation on Secondary Education Institutions and the Regulation on Preschool Education and Primary Education Institutions regarding the start and end times of classes in primary and secondary schools, also explained that the Civil Servants Law No. 657 grants governorates the authority to determine daily working hours according to the characteristics of regions and services.

The circular reminded that, due to the continuation of the daylight saving time practice in accordance with legislative provisions, governorates are authorized to determine working and class start times on a provincial basis in response to requests for "winter time" arrangements.

It was requested that school hours be planned by taking into account sunrise and sunset times as well as social conditions, and that all necessary measures be taken to ensure that class start and end times are arranged in a way that does not disrupt education and training, so that students do not encounter any negative situations.
