Citizens' ferry grievance: Closed for Ali Erbaş to pass
The ferry was closed for the President of Religious Affairs, Ali Erbaş, who traveled to Tunceli for a mosque groundbreaking ceremony. The closure of the ferry, which is the only means of transportation to Elazığ, drew backlash.
President of Religious Affairs Ali Erbaş traveled to Tunceli the other day for a mosque groundbreaking ceremony.
The ceremony was attended by Chief Advisor to the President İsrafil Kışla, Tunceli Governor Bülent Tekbıyıkoğlu, Munzur University Rector Prof. Dr. Kenan Peker, Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Brigadier General Bülent Baykal, Provincial Police Chief Hakan Duman, and members of the protocol.
Following the ceremony, Erbaş used the ferry in the Pertek district to depart from the city.
According to the report by Kayhan Ayhan from BirGün; when the AKP-run Pertek Municipality allocated the ferry for Ali Erbaş, a queue formed in front of the ferry, which is the only transportation route to cross into Elazığ.
Vehicles coming from the direction of Elazığ and wanting to go to the Tunceli city center were also not allowed to disembark from the ferry.
Citizens waiting for Ali Erbaş reacted to the situation.
The citizens asked, "All vehicles were kept waiting. We have patients, we have work, but we waited for their convenience. Ali Erbaş sees himself as a man of religion, but these events show that he sees himself above the public. What is his hesitation about mingling with the public?"
