Izmit Municipality has converted the Gülümse Kafe Fevziye into the Izmit City Restaurant.
Mayor Fatma Kaplan Hürriyet, who inspected the final stages of the work at the City Restaurant, provided information to the citizens.
Hürriyet stated the following:
"IT WILL BE 40 TL JUST LIKE THE IMM'S MODEL"
"We had started operating Fevziye as a Gülümse Kafe, following the same logic as our other social facilities. However, we initiated a project to improve the living conditions of our citizens who are going through difficult times due to economic hardships, to support them economically, and to ensure they can receive more affordable and high-quality meal services. We are nearing the end of the work we have been carrying out to transform the Fevziye Tea Garden into a city restaurant. We have carried out a complete renovation and updated the space. We have renewed the tables, chairs, and equipment. All our kitchen staff who will provide service have arrived. We will complete the remaining minor deficiencies in a short time. We plan to finish the work and open it for public service next week. There are many people working in the city center. These people spend significant amounts of money to meet their meal needs. Here, the Izmit City Restaurant is coming to life, where a 3-course meal will be offered to citizens for 40 TL, just as the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) has done."
"WE WILL PROVIDE SERVICE AT A SINGLE POINT WITHOUT PUTTING TRADESPEOPLE IN A DIFFICULT POSITION"
Expressing that they prioritize social municipalism, Hürriyet said, "The Izmit City Restaurant will become a brand in this city, just like our Gülümse Kafes. May the City Restaurant be auspicious and beneficial for our city. It will contribute to everyone at an accessible point in the heart of the city. We would have liked to open many more, but our local tradespeople also need to earn money. They are also experiencing difficulties. Therefore, we will offer the city restaurant to our public at a single point without putting the tradespeople in a difficult position," she said.
