Claim: A trustee could be appointed to İSKİ! 'The trend points to this'

In the second wave of the investigation launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into the İBB—following the arrest of CHP presidential candidate and İBB Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu—on allegations of 'establishing, managing, and being a member of an organization for the purpose of committing a crime,' 'bid rigging,' 'bribery,' and 'qualified fraud,' 51 people, including İSKİ General Manager Şafak Başa and İSKİ Deputy General Manager Begüm Çelikdelen, were detained.

While the repercussions of the second wave of operations against the İBB continue, Halk TV columnist Mehmet Tezkan recalled in his column today that the State Supervisory Council (DDK) has been granted the authority to remove individuals from office if they are deemed unsuitable, and noted the following:

“It seems that with a decision by the State Supervisory Council, the İSKİ General Manager will also be removed from office with the label of being 'unsuitable,' and a trustee will be appointed in his place… The trend points to this.”

Tezkan, in his column titled “A trustee could be appointed to İSKİ!”, used the following expressions:

“İSKİ General Manager Şafak Başa is in custody… İSKİ Deputy General Manager Begüm Çelikdelen is in custody… The Chairman of the İSKİ Board of Directors is already under arrest (Ekrem İmamoğlu)… Isn't this a golden opportunity for the DDK? We do not yet know why the İSKİ General Manager and his deputy are in custody or what they are being accused of. They are expected to be brought before a judge today. But there is one thing we do know. İSKİ declared the houses that TOKİ started building on the route of Kanal Istanbul as illegal structures. A demolition order was issued for the 24 thousand residences planned to be built at the bottom of the Sazlıdere water collection basin… They were detained less than 24 hours after this decision… That is why I say that the DDK could do what the TMSF did… It could appoint a trustee to İSKİ.”
