Claim: Reconciliation commission forming an İmralı delegation! Terrorist leader Öcalan to be 'heard'
It is claimed that the reconciliation commission will form a 5-person delegation to meet with terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan.
As the National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy Commission, established in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) as part of the new reconciliation process—architected by MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli and dubbed "Terror-Free Turkey" by the government—continues its work, a new debate regarding the process has been ignited.
While the DEM Party front has requested that the commission meet with terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan, the MHP front has given a green light to this demand.
MHP Deputy Chairman Feti Yıldız proposed that the reconciliation commission send a delegation to hear from terrorist leader Öcalan.
Stating, "On the path to a terror-free Turkey, the State has created its own dynamic. The Turkish state is experiencing its most powerful period in the last three centuries. Negotiations will continue next week," Yıldız added, "It would not constitute a weakness for our Parliament Speaker, Mr. Numan Kurtulmuş, to select 3-4 people from within the National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy Commission to take the statements of terrorist organization founder Abdullah Öcalan, provided the timing and method are well considered."
According to a report by Sözcü, an İmralı delegation consisting of 5 people representing the 51-member reconciliation commission will meet with Öcalan, the leader of the terrorist organization PKK.
