Claim: They want to change the name of the Atatürk Forest Farm
Tezcan Karakuş Candan, former head of the Ankara Branch of the Chamber of Architects, who claims that there is an intention to change the name of the Atatürk Forest Farm to Beştepe People's Forest, stated, "The AOÇ is Atatürk's legacy to his people. Remaining silent on this is a betrayal of that trust. We will take the matter to court."
A striking claim has come from Tezcan Karakuş Candan, former head of the Ankara Branch of the Chamber of Architects.
According to a report by Sözcü, Candan stated that a new plan amendment is being prepared for the Atatürk Forest Farm (AOÇ), saying:
“The AOÇ has become the pinnacle area for settling scores with the Republican regime. This time, a 388 thousand square meter area right in front of the palace at the AOÇ is being converted into a ‘recreation area.’ They are making the area the palace's garden and naming it the ‘Beştepe People's Forest.’ The AOÇ is Atatürk's legacy to his people. Remaining silent on this is a betrayal of that trust. We will take the matter to court.”
OPENED TO RENT PIECE BY PIECE
The AOÇ was established by the Great Leader in 1925. Atatürk donated the farm to the Treasury in 1937. The AOÇ has lost approximately 40 percent of its land integrity through transfers and allocations.
