Claims of SCT exemption for scrap vehicles: Denial comes from AKP
Claims regarding a Special Consumption Tax (SCT) exemption for scrap vehicles were brought to the agenda by a legislative proposal from MHP Kayseri Deputy İsmail Özdemir. However, AKP officials announced that there is no such legal regulation in place.
It has been announced by officials that there is no SCT exemption or incentive plan for scrap vehicles.
Claims that a Special Consumption Tax (SCT) exemption would be introduced for vehicles older than the 2000 model year have surfaced. While these claims created excitement, particularly within the automotive sector and among consumers, AK Party officials announced in a statement to CNBC-e that there is no preparation for any legal regulation regarding scrap vehicle incentives. Party sources emphasized that such speculation should not be given credence.

The issue of scrap vehicle incentives came to the agenda with a legislative proposal submitted to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) by MHP Kayseri Deputy İsmail Özdemir in recent days. In his proposal, Özdemir suggested that vehicles over 25 years old be removed from traffic to be recovered for the economy and that an SCT discount be offered to those who turn in their scrap vehicles.
