It has been claimed that 83-year-old famous Cypriot businessman Asil Nadir, who was among the wealthiest people in England in the 1980s, has passed away. However, Dr. Celal Bölükbaşı, Chief Physician of Kolan Hospital, stated in a comment to BRT that Asil Nadir is alive.

WHO IS ASİL NADİR?
Asil Nadir (born May 1, 1941, Lefke) is a Turkish Cypriot businessman. His father, İrfan Nadir, settled in Famagusta after working as a police officer in the 1950s, and Nadir sold newspapers in Varosha during his childhood. Following the EOKA attacks in 1955, the family moved to England in 1963. Although Asil Nadir was sent to the Faculty of Economics at Istanbul University, he left his education unfinished to enter the business world. He completed his education in the 1980s. He bought the retail company Wear Well in London and returned to Nicosia after the 1974 Cyprus Peace Operation to begin operating in the textile sector.
