Claims that Iranian Kurdish groups have launched a ground offensive into Iran
As attacks by the US and Israel against Iran continue, it has been alleged that Iranian Kurdish groups have launched a ground offensive in northwestern Iran.
A report by Barack Ravid on the American news site Axios cited an unnamed US official.
The official stated that Iranian Kurdish militias had launched a ground offensive in northwestern Iran but did not provide any further details.
The militias in question consist of small Iranian opposition groups that maintain a presence under the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in Iraq.
STATEMENT FROM THE WHITE HOUSE
Meanwhile, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt responded to a question on the matter during a press briefing held yesterday.
Regarding whether the US is considering arming Kurdish forces in the region to encourage a popular uprising in Iran, Leavitt stated, "Reports claiming that the President (US President Donald Trump) has approved such a plan are completely false and should not be written in this manner."
