Coca-Cola is pulling two products from shelves

The Coca-Cola Co. has announced that it will discontinue production of Coca-Cola Spiced and Coca-Cola Spiced Zero Sugar just seven months after their launch.

According to a report in Sözcü, the Atlanta-based beverage giant stated on Wednesday that these spiced flavors would be replaced by new products in 2024. In its statement, the company said, "We are constantly reviewing our consumers' preferences and adjusting our product range accordingly."

IT WAS THE FIRST NEW PERMANENT PRODUCT ADDITION

These flavors hit shelves in the U.S. and Canada on February 19 and marked the first permanent addition to Coca-Cola's North American portfolio in three years. Coca-Cola did not provide a definitive explanation for why these products are being removed, but it is speculated that it may be related to their rapid launch.

Coca-Cola North America Chief Marketing Officer Shakir Moin stated in February that this product was developed in just seven weeks. However, the development process for a new beverage typically takes a year. Additionally, the fact that consumers did not show the expected interest in this flavor is also seen as a possible reason.

Coca-Cola is experimenting with limited-edition collections, particularly to attract younger consumers. The eight Coca-Cola Creations flavors launched in 2022 and the recently introduced Oreo-flavored Coca-Cola are just some of these initiatives. Furthermore, the company is expanding its alcoholic beverage portfolio. The Topo Chico Hard Seltzer, which launched in the U.S. in 2021, and a ready-to-drink rum and coke cocktail set to be sold in Europe and Mexico in 2024 in collaboration with Bacardi Limited, are among the examples of this expansion.
