Collective bargaining deadlock at Şişecam: Strike decision taken
No consensus was reached in the collective bargaining negotiations between Şişecam and the Petrol-İş Union. The union is preparing to begin a strike on May 14. The strike decision covers the company's Soda, Kromsan, Kojen, and Salt units.
At Şişecam, one of Turkey's leading industrial giants, the expected agreement could not be reached in the collective bargaining negotiations conducted between the Petrol-İş Union and the company management. Following this development, the union decided to go on strike.
As no common ground for an agreement could be found during the ongoing negotiation process, the employees represented by the union will go on strike on May 14.
The decision directly affects many production facilities within Şişecam.
The notification made by the company to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) included the following statements:
"Within the scope of the ongoing negotiations with the Petrol-İş Union, where our employees at our company's Soda, Kojen, and Kromsan factories and the Salt facility are organized, a strike decision has been taken by the Petrol-İş Union as of April 21, 2025, in accordance with legal procedures, and the strike implementation date has been set as May 14, 2025."
Previously, the Kristal-İş Union had also taken similar strike decisions at Şişecam. The strikes announced in 2003, 2004, 2014, 2017, and 2018 could not be implemented due to postponement decisions taken by the government.
