Common alphabet project of Turkic states on the agenda of the Russian press: 'Turkey's influence will strengthen'

The process of transitioning to a common Latin alphabet within the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), led by Turkey, has caught Moscow's attention.

This decision, seen as an important part of Ankara's efforts to increase its influence over the Turkic world, has resonated widely in the Russian press.

At the Organization of Turkic States summit to be held in Bishkek on October 24, it is expected that the Turkic states will decide to transition to a common Latin alphabet.

This move is evaluated not only as a linguistic unification but also as a strategic step that will lead to the deepening of cultural and political ties.

According to a report in Haberrus, Nezavisimaya Gazeta (NG), one of Russia's leading newspapers, published a long article examining the issue in detail.

The report emphasizes that the transition to a common Latin alphabet will strengthen Turkey's influence in the region.

The OTS has become an important structure that has strengthened cooperation in the Turkic world in recent years. The Bishkek summit of the organization, which is celebrating its 15th anniversary, signals that this cooperation will deepen even further. At the summit, a new council consisting of heads of government and vice presidents of member states is planned to be established. This council will contribute to the acceleration and effectiveness of the organization's decision-making mechanisms.

'TURKEY'S INFLUENCE OVER CENTRAL ASIA WILL INCREASE'

The common Latin alphabet developed under Turkey's leadership will enable the Turkic world to enter into closer linguistic and cultural cooperation. This step will pave the way not only for linguistic integration but also for political and economic cooperation. It is predicted that the transition to the Latin alphabet will be used as a tool to strengthen regional cooperation.

Experts emphasize that this change will increase Turkey's influence over Central Asia and lead to the deepening of ties between Turkic states.

'SOFT POWER' STRATEGY

With the transition process to the Latin alphabet, Turkey aims to further strengthen its soft power strategy in Central Asia. This policy, conducted through cultural, linguistic, and economic ties, makes Turkey one of the most important actors in the region. The transition to the Latin alphabet is seen not just as a language reform, but as a tool that consolidates Turkey's presence and influence in the region.
