BIRINCI'S RESIGNATION FROM THE AKP AND SUBSEQUENT EVENTS

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel alleged that Mücahit Birinci, who previously held various positions within the AKP, visited Murat Kapki, who is currently imprisoned in connection with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) investigation, and placed a 1.5-page document in front of Kapki, saying, "You will sign this, and you will also pay 2 million dollars, and that is how you will get out of here."

Following Özel's bombshell revelation regarding the IMM 'bribe exchange,' an investigation was launched, and the AKP referred Birinci to the disciplinary board with a request for his permanent expulsion.
