Communications Director Altun reacts sharply to Özel's remarks about the President
Communications Director Fahrettin Altun has reacted sharply to the remarks made by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel regarding President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Communications Director Altun's statement on the matter is as follows:
The insulting and politically manipulative remarks used by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel against our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who was elected by the votes of our beloved nation, constitute an unacceptable challenge to the national will and a serious example of irresponsibility that damages our social peace.
Our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, is a head of state elected directly by the will of the nation. Unbecoming and baseless expressions such as “junta leader” directed at him are an insult not only to the democratic process but also to the will of our nation. Such rhetoric cannot be evaluated within the scope of freedom of thought, nor can it be explained by the motive of “political opposition.”
These statements, which are completely devoid of political ethics and a sense of responsibility, are incompatible with the spirit of democratic politics. Judicial processes regarding the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality are being conducted by independent courts. Allegations such as “coup plan,” “junta,” and “conspiracy” regarding this ongoing legal process are an open threat to the judiciary and an attempt to discredit it. Furthermore, statements such as “trustee lists have been prepared,” which are not based on any concrete data, are disinformation activities aimed at misleading the public, weakening trust in institutions, and deepening polarization.
No one has the right to interfere with judicial processes by disregarding the rule of law. Everyone must respect the rule of law and use common-sense language for the unity of our state and our nation. Our President continues to defend the democratic state of law based on the will of the nation with determination today, just as he did yesterday.
