Communications Director Duran makes statement on 'Common Turkic Alphabet'

Presidential Communications Director Burhanettin Duran attended the new broadcasting season promotional program of TRT Avaz, held at the Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University Itri Congress and Culture Center. The program was also attended by AK Party Deputy Chairman Kürşad Zorlu, Presidential Communications Director Burhanettin Duran, TRT Director General Mehmet Zahid Sobacı, Great Unity Party (BBP) Chairman Mustafa Destici, representatives of political parties, university rectors, and members of parliament.

Delivering a speech at the program, Communications Director Burhanettin Duran noted that TRT Avaz addresses more than 300 million people who make up the Turkic world across a vast geography exceeding 4.5 million square kilometers. Mentioning the 12th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States held in the city of Gabala, Azerbaijan, which was also attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Duran stated that all member and observer states of the Organization of Turkic States were present at the summit. Emphasizing that the summit taking place with the participation of all members of the family council was an important message to all external parties regarding the unity and solidarity of the Turkic World, Duran said, "The summit, themed 'Regional Peace and Security,' has reached a new stage in terms of the organization's rapidly expanding and diversifying areas of activity, visibility, and reputation. In this framework, the institutional structure of the Organization of Turkic States has been further strengthened, and discussions were held toward further reinforcing cooperation among member countries."

"IT WILL OPEN NEW PATHS"

Wishing that the decisions taken at the 12th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States bring goodness to the Turkic peoples, the geography of the heart, and humanity, Duran spoke as follows:

"As you know, the Organization of Turkic States, whose foundation was laid in 1992 and which reached its final structure with the Istanbul Summit in 2021, has become a strategic power center rising on the Eurasian continent in a short time. The purpose of this union is to deepen comprehensive cooperation among Turkic States and to contribute to regional and global peace and stability. The Organization of Turkic States is taking very important steps toward these goals. As is known, the global system is facing new challenges and threats every day. In such a period, we attach greater importance to solidarity with the Turkic peoples, with whom we are the carriers of a common language, history, and culture. The foundation of solidarity is a common language and, of course, the unique architecture of thought built by that common language. Yesterday, our President's announcement that 'Turkey will be the first to publish works using the Common Turkic Alphabet' has been a valuable beginning in this sense. The Common Turkic Alphabet will also open new paths for our work in the fields of communication and media."

"IT IS THE COMMON GOAL OF THE TURKIC WORLD"

Duran stated that the Directorate of Communications has signed 6 agreements with members and observer member countries of the Organization of Turkic States in the fields of media, communication, and information. Duran said, "We are continuing with determination to carry our cooperation much further and to deepen it. What lies behind this determination? The Turkic world is not just a map. The Turkic world is a vision of civilization united by a common language, history, culture, and bond of heart that represents a deep and sublime ideal. This ideal aims for the rise of Turkic peoples in unity, brotherhood, and solidarity by carrying the legacy of the past into the future. This is the common goal of the Turkic world. It exists for the future of us all. TRT Avaz has made this noble ideal a voice, a cultural bridge, and a call for brotherhood and unity rising from the heart of the Turkic world, turning it into a shared memory."

In his speech, TRT Director General Sobacı stated that relations between Turkic states are gaining increasingly vital importance in terms of regional peace, economic development, and cultural cooperation, adding, "In this context, with the establishment of our TRT Avaz channel in 2009, TRT filled a very large void. Adopting the principle of 'unity in language, thought, and action' of the great thinker Ismail Gasprinski, our channel undertook the mission of being the common voice of this vast geography where Turkic-origin peoples live. As the TRT family, since that day, we have continued to build 'bridges of the heart' between Turkey and the Turkic world, and to bring our common values, historical heritage, and cultural richness to the screens," he said.
