Communications Directorate clarifies: Did Erdoğan receive the 'Jewish Courage Medal'?

The Communications Directorate's Center for Combating Disinformation stated on its social media account, "The claim that 'President Erdoğan received the Jewish Courage Medal' is a manipulation. The images cited as evidence for this claim, which has been circulating for years and has resurfaced due to Israel's attacks on Palestine, are clearly being manipulated.

The 'Courage to Care Award,' presented by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), is an award given to honor the rescuers of Jews during the Holocaust. Therefore, the presentation of this award in 2005 was not made to our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, personally, but on behalf of the Turkish diplomats who saved some Jews from genocide during the Holocaust process (1933-1945).

Speaking to the Turkish press regarding the images that were also a subject of debate in 2014, ADL officials stated, 'We presented this plaque of appreciation to the Prime Minister; however, this plaque was actually given in memory of Turkish diplomats who are no longer alive today.' In 2011, the award was named after Jan Karski, a Polish diplomat who was a soldier during World War II."
