Companies selling fake olive oil exposed! Thousands of liras in fines issued
In the Kemalpaşa district of İzmir, 3 companies found to be selling fake olive oil were fined a total of 773 thousand liras. The Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry has filed criminal complaints against the companies identified as engaging in adulteration and imitation.
According to the statement made by the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, an operation was carried out targeting companies involved in the production and trade of olive oil in the district.
In this context, a total administrative fine of 773 thousand liras was imposed on 3 companies whose samples were found to contain adulteration and imitation. The teams also filed criminal complaints against the companies attempting to export the adulterated oil using false information and documents.

STATEMENT FROM THE PROVINCIAL DIRECTOR OF AGRICULTURE AND FORESTRY
In the statement, Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Mustafa Şahin stated that they would continue to be in the field to ensure that consumers have access to real and high-quality olive oil.
Stating that citizens should purchase olive oil from reliable sources, Şahin noted the following:
"Citizens can carefully examine the label information of the products and query them through the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry's 'Reliable Food' platform. Furthermore, when they encounter any negativity regarding food safety, they can call the ALO 174 Food Hotline to report it."
