Company that issued vehicle insurance policies failed to pay damage claims: They took hundreds of thousands of liras and vanished
Aveon Global Sigorta Şirketi has disappeared without fulfilling its obligations under the scope of insurance policies after issuing vehicle insurance policies to over 100 people. Numerous victims, whose vehicle damage claims remain unpaid, are waiting for millions of liras to be delivered.
Aveon Global Holding LTD UK, established with a base in the UK, issued vehicle insurance policies worth hundreds of thousands of liras to over 100 people from different regions of Turkey; however, when individuals whose vehicles were involved in accidents tried to contact the company, they were unable to reach them.
The company, which has a capital of 195 million TL, did not pay the fees of victims who wanted to secure their damage payments.
Following the applications of the victims, the company was banned from issuing policies.
The victims who reached out to 12punto explained that they have not been able to receive the large payments they have been waiting for for months.
“THEY SAY THEY ARE UNDER AUDIT BUT THERE IS NO BANKRUPTCY”
The lawyer for an individual who had an accident with a vehicle belonging to a furniture company in Bursa pointed out that the insurance company is required to pay all receivables within the scope of the insurance within 45 days from the date of the accident, stating, “The accident occurred on August 5, 2024. A settlement agreement was signed with the insurance company on September 19, 2024. The vehicle had a salvage value of 588 thousand 500 TL, which the salvage company paid; the insurance company is also required to pay the amount of 481 thousand 500 TL as of September 19, 2024, but they did not pay.”
The company stated to some of the victims waiting for payment that it is under audit by the Insurance and Private Pension Regulation and Supervision Agency (SEDDK). However, the victims' lawyer expressed that there is no such process regarding the company with the following statements:
“When we reached the payment stage, we signed everything, and that was when we could not reach them. They say, ‘We are under audit, we cannot make payments because we are under audit,’ but there is no bankruptcy situation regarding them. In other words, they do not have a valid legal excuse that would prevent their payments, but they are not paying. They do not face any sanctions if they do not pay; we were forced to start the legal process, but the process will take a long time. Because of the long duration of the trial process, people are hesitant to apply to the judicial process. But we have been waiting for payment for 3-4 months, it did not come, and we applied. In addition to not making the payments, the insurance company is also not providing any communication.”
“WE CANNOT REACH THEM IN ANY WAY”
Emre Biçer’s vehicle also burned down while parked in Kayseri on August 18, 2024. His payment of 700 thousand TL from the insurance company has still not been made.
Biçer expressed his grievance by saying, “The fire department report was filed, and the expert examined the vehicle. Later, the insurance company said they would pay our money after an average of 45-50 days. They directed us to Cesar Group, saying, ‘They will call you for the settlement text.’ After that, a lot of time passed, and they called from Cesar Group and sent a settlement text. While the value of my vehicle was in the 950 thousand TL band, they persuaded me to accept 730 thousand TL by saying, ‘The process will take too long, you won’t be able to get your money, and the insurance company won’t cover the whole thing anyway.’ Afterward, the papers came, we signed and sent them. About a month has passed, only 30 thousand TL of salvage value was deposited. The 700 thousand TL that the insurance company should pay did not arrive. We sent emails, they didn't look; we called, they didn't answer. We cannot reach these people in any way right now.”
“THE AUTO BODY SHOP STARTED THREATENING ME”
Muhammet Fırat Özdemir, who stated that he was on the eve of his engagement, explained how he gave his damaged vehicle to an auto service by trusting the insurance company, but because the payment did not come from the company, he could not pay his debt and started receiving threats from the auto body shop:
“I had an accident in Bursa on August 17, 2024. I took it to the service, and they delivered the vehicle to me about a month later, on September 23. During this process, the auto service called me and said, ‘You pay for the supply materials, the insurance company will pay you the amount anyway.’ I stated that I could not pay because I had debts, and I would make the payment to them when the money came from the insurance. The auto service repaired my car on this condition, and the invoice amounted to 160 thousand TL. However, 3 months passed, and the insurance company did not pay my money. The auto body shop started threatening me. I still haven't been able to reach the 158 thousand TL I am owed by the insurance company. For this reason, I cannot pay my debt to the auto service either. The insurance company constantly postponed the money it needed to pay by saying, ‘We are in the audit process.’ I will also file an enforcement request against the insurance company.”
“THE INSURANCE COMPANY SAID ‘WE HAVE NO DEBT’”
Murat İşçi stated that he reached Aveon Global Sigorta Şirketi through sigortam.net but could not find anyone to talk to on the site to express the problem he had with the relevant company, saying, “I had an accident in Çorum on August 8, 2024. Sigortam.net acted as an intermediary, and I found this insurance company. But I cannot find anyone to talk to at sigortam.net regarding this insurance company; I was victimized because of them. I have a receivable of 450 thousand TL from the insurance company, but the company reported that the payment was not approved. I filed a lawsuit, I gave it to a lawyer, but they did not accept the enforcement proceedings either, saying, ‘We have no debt.’ Of course, we have all the documents proving that they have a debt,” and stated that the company also rejected the amount it should pay.
“ALL MY WORK HAS BEEN DISRUPTED”
Özge Uyar, who had an accident in İzmir, said, “I had an accident on August 24, 2024. I stayed in the hospital for a week; during this time, my file was prepared, and my car was towed to the service. The total loss process of my vehicle took about a month. We made an agreement with Aveon for 650 thousand TL to be paid to me. We received 357 thousand TL from the salvage firm, but we could not get the remaining 243 thousand TL that we were owed by the insurance. My agency emailed the company, but they said they were under SEDDK audit and would get back to us, but no date was given. I am a financial advisor; all my work has been disrupted since August. If they had paid my money, I would have bought a vehicle, but I have been without a vehicle since that date. I am thinking of filing a lawsuit,” she said, announcing that she would initiate a legal process.
