Complaints followed one another: AKP's Birinci filed a complaint against Özgür Özel and Murat Kapki

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an ex officio investigation into the meeting allegedly held in prison between businessman Murat Kapki, who was arrested in the IMM investigation and gave statements three times under the effective repentance law, and AKP lawyer Mücahit Birinci, which was brought to the agenda by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel.

Kapki, who is detained at the Tekirdağ No. 1 F-Type High-Security Closed Penal Institution, gave a new statement within the scope of the complaints in the handwritten letter by Kapki that Özel disclosed, and filed a complaint against Birinci.

Birinci also went to the Çağlayan Courthouse and filed a complaint against Özel and Kapki.

WHAT KAPKİ SAID IN HIS STATEMENT

Kapki gave his first statement on June 24 to benefit from 'effective repentance.' He gave his second statement within the same scope on July 18. He issued a power of attorney to Mücahit Birinci on July 29 and met with Birinci in prison on July 31. After issuing a power of attorney to Birinci on August 7, he gave his third statement within the scope of 'effective repentance.' On August 2, he dismissed Birinci as his lawyer and filed a criminal complaint.

Following the allegations of CHP Chairman Özel, an investigation was launched into Kapki and Birinci. In his statement taken within the scope of the investigation, Kapki, who filed a complaint against Birinci, claimed that Birinci had previously conveyed his desire to meet with him through someone else and that he could get him released.

Stating that he met with Birinci with the thought that he could be released, Kapki said, "He gave me 1.5-page computer-written texts that he brought in 2 copies and told me to read them. The content of these texts included the issues I wrote in 4 articles in my petition titled 'my complaint.' When I read these, I said that I could not slander anyone and stated that the issues mentioned in the text were not true." Kapki stated, "Afterwards, he took the texts he brought with him from me. As he was leaving, I asked him if I could be released. Lawyer Mücahit Birinci also made a sentence like, 'This was your choice,' and left me."
