Concerns in AKP over 'framework law': Calculations of difficulty for Central Anatolia and the Black Sea

It is claimed that the "framework law" debate, which has come to the agenda within the scope of the "Terror-Free Turkey" process and is stated to be aimed at those convicted of PKK-related crimes, has also created anxiety within the AKP.

According to the inside information from Nefes columnist Nuray Babacan, contrary to comments on social media suggesting a disagreement between YENI Party Chairman Özgür Özel and his team, a different assessment is being made within the AKP. It was reported that some AKP members believe Özel explained his reasoning for allowing his deputies to vote freely to his voter base effectively.

In the corridors, it is stated that the main debate is the political pressure the regulation could create for AKP deputies in their own electoral districts. Some party members were quoted as saying, "Our deputies in the Central Anatolia and Black Sea regions will have a very difficult time during the summer months."

In the same assessments, it was noted that there is an expectation for the process to be overcome with minimal damage to the party and without turning into a "PKK show." For this reason, it is stated that the parliamentary process of the regulation and the way it is explained to the public are seen as critical for the ruling party.

According to Babacan, the term "valley of death" is also being used in AKP corridors regarding the future of the YENI Party. It was reported that this expression, which is used in the business world to describe the staffing, financing, and project challenges faced by new companies after their establishment, is also being applied to the current political threshold facing Özel and the YENI Party.
