Contradiction in girlfriend's testimony in Serhat Kılıç investigation! She gave different accounts to police and the prosecutor's office

In the investigation into the death of actor Serhat Kılıç, who was found dead in his home in Istanbul's Kağıthane district, details from his girlfriend Özlem Esmergül's statement to the prosecutor and the crime scene investigation report have come to light.

The incident occurred on September 5, around 17:00, in the Nurtepe neighborhood. It was stated that Özlem Esmergül, unable to reach Kılıç, entered the house using a spare key she had and found the actor motionless on the sofa in the living room. Upon notification, police and medical teams were dispatched to the address. Medical teams determined that Kılıç had passed away. The body was taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute morgue after examinations.

In her statement to the prosecutor, Esmergül, who noted that she had known Kılıç for 8 years, said she last spoke to the actor by phone on Thursday. Esmergül stated that Kılıç could not go to the TV series set due to health problems, which caused him work-related issues, and that they discussed this matter on the phone.

It was learned that Esmergül explained that Kılıç had recently been receiving treatment at a private hospital in Şişli for a herniated neck, was wearing a neck brace, and could not go to work due to his condition. In her statement, she also mentioned that when she entered the house, she saw broken plate fragments on the floor, the house was cold, and the air conditioner was on.

NOTABLE DISCREPANCY IN STATEMENTS

One of the points that drew attention in the investigation was the difference between Esmergül's statements to the police and the prosecutor's office. It was reported that while Esmergül stated to the police that Kılıç had no substance or alcohol addiction, she gave a different account regarding drug and alcohol use to the prosecutor.

"I have known that he has used drugs and alcohol since I have known him. As far as I know, he has also been using cocaine for the last 6 months. He has no enemies."

The report by the Istanbul Police Department's Crime Scene Investigation Branch also included information that there was a security guard and a camera at the entrance of the residential complex where the apartment is located, and that entries and exits were controlled. It was noted that there was a camera overlooking the building's entrance corridor, no signs of forced entry were found on the apartment's steel door, and no key was left in the lock.

The report stated that broken pieces of a plate of the same color and pattern were found in the hallway and at the entrance to the living room. It was stated that a green herbaceous plant, assessed to be drugs, was found in a metal box on the wooden coffee table in the living room, along with cigarette rolling paper in a bag; and a herbal substance, also assessed to be drugs, was found in a clip-top bag inside a fabric suitcase in front of the bookcase.

The same report stated that 3 rolled-up 200-lira banknotes, believed to be used for drug consumption, were also found in the suitcase. The investigation into Serhat Kılıç's death is ongoing.
