Controversial 'slanderer' comment from Cübbeli Ahmet about Fatih Altaylı: 'Altaylı hosted this reactionary for years'

Journalist Fatih Altaylı was detained on June 21 on charges of "Insulting the President" due to statements he made in a video published on his YouTube channel.

Referred to the courthouse the following day, Altaylı was arrested and sent to prison by the Criminal Court of Peace, to which he had been referred with a request for arrest following his testimony to the prosecutor's office.

Cübbeli Ahmet made a notable statement following Fatih Altaylı's arrest. Describing Altaylı as a slanderer (someone who smears or libels), Cübbeli said, "May the same happen to other slanderers."

"HE HOSTED THIS REACTIONARY FOR YEARS"

Academic Fatih Yaşlı also criticized this outburst by Cübbeli Ahmet, who had been a guest on Fatih Altaylı's program for years, in a post on his social media account, stating, "Altaylı hosted this reactionary on Habertürk for years, ensured he became known and famous, brought the poison of his tongue into hundreds of thousands of homes, and the result..."

The full text of Cübbeli Ahmet's post is as follows:

"For some reason, those who are about to face trouble and go to prison first 'pee in the courtyard of our mosque.' Then they find trouble. As examples of this, we can count Ali Kalkancı, Çevik Bir, Tuncay Özkan, Ebu Hanzala, Ebu Haris, Alparslan Kuytul, Fatih Nurullah, Adnan Oktar, Merdan Yanardağ, Hüsnü Mahalli, Barış Pehlivan, Murat Ağırel, Muhittin Palazoğlu, Ekrem İmamoğlu, Ümit Özdağ, İsmail Saymaz, and as the latest link, Fatih Altaylı has been added to this chain.

Of course, some did not go to prison but went to the grave. I attribute these events not to my own goodness, but to their slander and evil.

And if we were to count the FETÖ members who did not go to prison but fled the country and could never return, the list would stretch until doomsday.

May the same happen to other slanderers."
