Cooperation between India and Greece
Following Pakistan's shift toward Turkish defense products, India has chosen Greece as a strategic partner. New Delhi is preparing for a partnership with Athens in the fields of defense industry, port management, tourism, and labor.
Following Turkey's deepening of its relations with Pakistan in the defense sector, India has turned its gaze toward Ankara's regional rival, Greece.
The New Delhi administration is entering a multi-faceted cooperation process with Athens in strategic areas such as defense, tourism, labor, and port investments.
According to the Greek newspaper Ekathimerini, India has taken the first steps toward defense cooperation by establishing contact with institutions such as the Hellenic Aerospace Industry (EAB) and Hellenic Defense Systems (EAS). This move comes immediately after the recent defense agreements signed between Israel and Greece.
PARTNERSHIP WITH GREECE
The strong ties Turkey has established with Pakistan in defense exports have led India to re-evaluate its regional position. New Delhi has turned to Greece with the goal of establishing long-term strategic partnerships in Europe. This move is not merely a reflection of India-Pakistan and Greece-Turkey tensions; it is also part of a much broader global strategy.
India's interest is not limited to the military field. Greece's strategic ports, particularly the Port of Thessaloniki, the tourism sector, and labor agreements are also on the agenda. It is noteworthy that Thessaloniki is emerging as a regional hub alternative to Piraeus. This port could play a significant role in the US-backed India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor.
