Çorlu train disaster trial postponed for the 19th time! Associate judge took leave...
The trial for the Çorlu Train Disaster, which occurred on July 8, 2018, resulting in the deaths of 25 people, including 7 children, and injuring more than 300, has been postponed to April 25.
The verdict hearing for the case involving 13 defendants regarding the train massacre that occurred in Çorlu, Tekirdağ, on July 8, 2018, which claimed the lives of 25 people, including 7 children, and left more than 300 injured, was held today at the Çorlu 1st High Criminal Court.
The hearing was postponed to April 25.
Mısra Öz, who lost her son Oğuz Arda Sel in the disaster, announced that one of the associate judges had submitted an excuse and did not attend this morning.
Mısra Öz stated the following:
"Today, unfortunately, we saw that the rule of law in Turkey has been trampled upon. Today, we saw once again in this courtroom that justice and the judiciary are being crushed under the power of the government. They are waiting for the word of the man in power. They invite us saying they will announce a verdict today, and then it is postponed for 2 months without a single document being processed. Because one of the court panel members took leave today. What are we, what have we been living through for 6 years?
They were afraid to announce a verdict today because they saw this crowd, the citizens, and the politicians by our side. They are waiting for after the election. We have to be even more numerous. They announced their decision and left. I am calling out to the government; you are sitting in your seat and they are drawing strength from you. Justice will be necessary for everyone. They are trying to crush us in the face of the government's power. I am coming from the people responsible, starting with Binali Yıldırım. They are cowards; they are defendants who cannot even sentence the 13 defendants. You have turned the country into a banana republic; even 'clown' is too mild a term, they are all sycophants."
