Corruption raid on Israeli Ministry of Transport
Israeli police have raided the Ministry of Transport offices in West Jerusalem as part of an investigation into allegations that Transport Minister Miri Regev granted "privileges" to local officials.
In Israel, police announced that they have launched an investigation into "fraud" and "breach of trust" regarding activities at the Ministry of Transport, following media reports that Transport Minister Miri Regev systematically granted "privileges" to local officials who provided her with political assistance.
As part of the corruption investigation, police raided the Ministry of Transport offices in West Jerusalem, searching the premises and seizing various documents.
The police did not make a statement regarding whether Minister Regev is a subject of the investigation.
Reports in the Israeli press alleged that Regev ranked cities based on the level of support she received from mayors and local officials during Likud primaries, and provided favors to cities and municipalities in proportion to the support they gave her.
