Council of State overturns ministry's decision denying investigation: Probe for former AKP Mayor Taşçı!
The First Chamber of the Council of State has ordered a preliminary investigation into former AKP Atakum Mayor İshak Taşçı, regarding the 2014-2019 period, after the Ministry of Interior had previously denied permission for an investigation.
The First Chamber of the Council of State has ordered a preliminary investigation into allegations of corruption that reportedly occurred during the term of former AKP Atakum Mayor İshak Taşçı in Samsun, for which the Ministry of Interior had previously denied investigation permission.
According to a report by Cemil Ciğerim in Cumhuriyet; corruption allegations regarding the 2014-2019 term of former AKP Atakum Mayor Taşçı had been brought to the judiciary. These included claims that payments were made for invoices related to the purchase of 8 trucks of construction materials for the municipality despite the vehicle license plates listed being motorcycle plates, that invoices for pita bread were paid in the names of individuals who had passed away 3-5 years prior, that cash register receipts and collection correspondence were destroyed, and that 323 thousand liras were not deposited into the bank account.
It had emerged that the Ministry of Interior had decided that "there was no need for action in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 4483 on the trial of civil servants and other public officials," meaning it had denied permission for an investigation into the municipality.
