The Turkish Grand National Assembly will resume work on Thursday, October 1. The 5th Legislative Year will continue until July 1, 2027. Among the first items on the agenda for the new term are regulations for international holiday and reservation platforms, as well as a new judicial package.
One of the regulations planned to be brought to the parliamentary agenda will make it mandatory for international holiday sites, such as Booking, to maintain a representative office in Turkey and pay taxes.
13TH JUDICIAL PACKAGE IN PREPARATION
One of the important topics to be worked on in the new legislative term will be the 13th Judicial Package. According to information reported by Zübeyde Yalçın from Sabah Newspaper, the package, which is being prepared by the Ministry of Justice and the AKP Group, will include new regulations regarding social media, alimony, and divorce processes.
The study will also take into account the Constitutional Court's justification for the cancellation of indefinite alimony. In this direction, it is planned to introduce a lower limit for alimony payments and implement different practices based on the duration of the marriage.
In addition to divorce cases, new provisions regarding alimony practices are also expected to be included in the package.
IDENTITY REQUIREMENT FOR SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS
A new system for social media usage is also on the agenda within the scope of the 13th Judicial Package. With the study being prepared, it is planned to transition to a practice where users' real identities will be verified.
The focus is on performing the identity verification process via e-Devlet. It is stated that the regulation aims to prevent the commission of crimes such as illegal betting, drugs, and prostitution through social media platforms.
