Counterfeit alcohol continues to claim lives
The number of people who have lost their lives due to counterfeit alcohol in Ankara has risen to 54. Meanwhile, 40 people are receiving treatment in intensive care. Within the scope of the investigations, 28 suspects have been arrested.
Deaths caused by counterfeit alcohol in Ankara continue to rise. According to toxicology reports from the Council of Forensic Medicine, the number of people who have lost their lives due to counterfeit alcohol has increased to 54, while it was stated that 40 people are receiving treatment in intensive care.
The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, along with the Ankara West and Polatlı chief public prosecutor's offices, which are conducting the investigation, continue their examinations into the production and trade of counterfeit alcohol. Within the scope of the investigations launched for smuggling and "causing death by probable intent," a significant amount of evidence has been added to the files.
28 SUSPECTS ARRESTED
While 28 suspects have been arrested within the scope of the investigation, 25 people were released under judicial control conditions. Authorities stated that inspections regarding the production and sale of counterfeit alcohol have been tightened.
