Counterfeit currency operation in Bağcılar, Istanbul!

Following allegations of counterfeit dollars in the market, many currency exchange offices and banks had suspended the buying and selling of 50 and 100 dollar banknotes.

While the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an ex officio investigation to look into the printing and distribution of counterfeit dollars, a counterfeit currency operation was conducted in Istanbul's Bağcılar district.

In the operation carried out by police teams on November 29, 2024, upon receiving a tip-off about counterfeit currency, 25 thousand counterfeit dollars in 50-dollar denominations, 33 thousand counterfeit euros in 50-euro denominations, and 25 thousand counterfeit euros in 100-euro denominations were seized. In total, 25 thousand counterfeit dollars and 58 thousand counterfeit euro banknotes were seized. 3 suspects were apprehended and taken into custody.

The individuals referred to the courthouse were arrested.
