Course notes waiting in prison: Detained students cannot prepare for exams

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu's detention has led to protests, and the families of university students arrested during these events have come together under the name Parent Solidarity Network.

Ercan Özay, one of the representatives of this network, stated that the students' exams begin today and that this situation could lead to serious grievances.

Participating in Gökmen Karadağ's program on Halk TV, Özay said, "Their exams start on Monday (today). Not being able to take these exams will create serious grievances regarding their educational lives. We have information that the trial will be held on April 18. However, they should be released immediately before this date so they do not fall behind in their studies."

Özay expressed that the students are having trouble accessing the resources necessary to prepare for their exams. Stating that course notes need to be delivered to the prison but that the commission cannot conduct reviews due to the holiday, Özay added, "How will the children prepare for their exams? Furthermore, will the people on the commission be competent enough regarding academic literature? Most of these are resources written in foreign languages. Will the people conducting the inspection be able to sufficiently review the notes and make a positive or negative decision? This also makes us suspicious. We also want to call on the schools to postpone the exam dates."

The Parent Solidarity Network announced that the detained students in Metris Prison will be transferred to Silivri Prison today and that there is also a high school student among the detainees.
