Court approves Koç Group's Divan Talya Hotel project: Objections rejected

An important decision has been reached in the lawsuit filed by municipalities regarding the cancellation of the zoning plan and building permit for the Divan Talya Hotel, owned by the Koç Group, during its reconstruction process in Antalya. 

According to a report by Gazete Duvar, the Konya Regional Administrative Court, which evaluated the objections of the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality and the Muratpaşa Municipality, rejected the request for a stay of execution.

MURATPAŞA MUNICIPALITY HAD SEALED THE CONSTRUCTION SITE

Following the partial permit cancellation decision issued by the Antalya 4th Administrative Court, the Muratpaşa Municipality had sealed the construction site, and both municipalities had appealed to the court. The court rejected the objections regarding the cancellation of the 1/5000 scale master zoning plan by the Antalya Metropolitan Municipal Council and the 1/1000 scale implementation zoning plan by the Muratpaşa Municipal Council.

Marmaris Altınyunus Turistik Tesisler A.Ş., a Koç Group subsidiary that intervened in the case, will be able to continue the hotel construction following the court's decision. However, local residents are reacting to the situation, claiming that the hotel's construction is causing irreversible damage to the cliffs, which are a protected natural site.

DOES NOT PROVIDE THE OPPORTUNITY TO BUILD A HOTEL

Plaintiff attorney Figen Albuga Çalıkuşu stated that the hotel's current building permit is contrary to judicial decisions, saying, "No judicial decision gives the Koç Group the opportunity to build a hotel on a 45,000 square meter area." Çalıkuşu expressed that this attitude of the Koç Group does not align with its claim of being a management sensitive to art and aesthetics across Turkey.
