Court of Accounts issues TÜGVA warning to AKP-run municipality: 'Cancel the allocation'

A report prepared by the Court of Accounts has revealed that a building located in the İlkadım district of Samsun, owned by the Samsun Metropolitan Municipality, was allocated to TÜGVA in 2016 in violation of the law. According to a report in Cumhuriyet, the audit stated that this allocation was made for a purpose outside the municipality's scope of duty and therefore must be terminated.

In the report, under the heading "Allocation of Municipal Property to a Foundation," it was noted that the municipal property was allocated to a foundation in violation of Municipal Law No. 5393. It was determined that the property in the Selahiye neighborhood of the İlkadım district was given to the foundation via a municipal council decision dated December 14, 2016, and numbered 519, and that the property is being used for the foundation's activities.

Although the council decision stated that the allocation was made to carry out social and cultural services for youth in the Samsun city center, the Court of Accounts stated that these services should fall within the municipality's own duties and responsibilities. It was emphasized that the allocation of the property to the foundation is contrary to regulations and that this allocation must be canceled.
