Court of Accounts report: Major losses revealed in aviation

According to the Court of Accounts audit report, the net loss of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation was recorded at 77 million liras.

This situation has also negatively affected Turkey's international civil aviation safety score, causing it to drop from 84 to 49.4.

The perception of weak civil aviation safety in Turkey could lead to a decrease in foreign investment in areas such as airport projects and aviation technologies.

PARLIAMENTARY QUESTION FROM CHP ON THE ISSUE

Republican People's Party (CHP) Deputy Chairman Ulaş Karasu stated that this loss poses a serious threat to the institution's financial sustainability.

Karasu submitted a parliamentary question to Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu requesting a response on the matter. In his motion, he stated that due to Turkey's low civil aviation safety score, the country could be subject to certain flight restrictions by ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) and that the sector could become risky for foreign investors.

ADDITIONAL SECURITY MEASURES BY FOREIGN COMPANIES 

Following ICAO's downgrade of Turkey's safety score, it is reported that foreign airline companies may review their flight operations to Turkey.

It is also stated that some institutions may implement additional security measures for flights arriving from Turkey, and that foreign investors are beginning to become hesitant regarding airport investments. These developments have the potential to create a negative impact on investments in Turkey's civil aviation sector.
