The incident took place at the Dulkadiroğlu Municipality. According to allegations, Ali Karataş, the New Welfare Party Kahramanmaraş Provincial Deputy Chair, went to the office of Dulkadiroğlu Deputy Mayor Latif Öztürk to hold a meeting.

During the meeting, an argument broke out between the two for reasons yet unknown. As the argument escalated, Karataş struck Öztürk on the head with a copper candy bowl found on the coffee table.

After Latif Öztürk, who was injured in the head, called for help, Ali Karataş was removed from the municipal building by security personnel.

Karataş, who was handed over to police teams called to the scene, was referred to the courthouse following his processing at the police station.

Karataş, who was announced to have been removed from his post by the YRP Provincial Presidency, was arrested by the duty magistrate.
