Istanbul Police Department teams launched an investigation after armed photos of an individual appeared on social media platforms.

Examinations revealed that the suspect was K.G., the cousin of Yunus Emre Geçti, who had martyred police officer Yılmaz by shooting her during a scuffle that broke out after he was apprehended for motorcycle theft in Ümraniye.

The suspect, who was found to be at his residence in Ataşehir, was taken into custody. The suspect, who is under 18, was referred to the courthouse following police processing.

After being questioned by the prosecutor's office, the suspect K.G. was referred to the on-duty criminal judgeship of peace and was arrested.
